Open AI's ChatGPT vs Google's Gemini

It seems we cannot go a day without seeing the power of AI and how its power will revolutionize the world. Many companies spearheading the AI revolution include Nvidha, Open AI, Google, Microsoft, and startups such as Reid Hoffmen’s emotionally intelligent chatbot PI or Mustafa Suleyman Inflection AI. Thus, this leads to the observation that the company that is farthest in the race for sentient AI will be the company which will hold most of the power in the future.

To find out, I decided to conduct a test on two of the most intelligent chatbots currently: Open AI’s ChatGPT 4 and Google’s Gemini. Each chatbot will be prompted to provide the definition and real world use cases of tokenization.

I first prompted chatGPT by asking for a summary on tokenization and cryptocurrencies followed by their respective use cases for real world applications (to ensure I do not receive a zero and get referred to admin for academic dishonesty, I have opted to not display ChatGPT’s response and will instead provide a summary). ChatGPT’s response defines tokenization as being able to hold the rights to a digital asset which resides on the blockchain’s ledger followed by very specific use cases such as educational certificates, derivative trading, and the fractional ownership of physical assets.

I took the same prompt I gave ChatGPT to Gemini to compare each chatbot’s responses. From a birds eye view, I notice Google’s Gemini did not possess the in-depth analysis ChatGPT did; the response had 40% less words than Open AI, did not delineate the technology behind tokenization, and had surface level real world use cases, not specific examples. However, this is not necessarily a negative for Google as the prompt specified a “summary”; thus, it can be seen that Gemini tends to deliver only what the user specified and not beyond.

After thoroughly reading each model’s response, I consulted reputable, outside resources to find the respected definition by academics for blockchain tokenization. According to the NASDAQ, one of the largest financial equity index in world, tokenization is “the process of converting an asset or the ownership of rights of an asset to a unique unit called tokens” (Source). McKinsey finds that these tokens will revolutionize the transfer of tangible and intangible assets; one example they provide is that tokens can be used by companies to digitize physical assets which are troublesome to exchange between parties such as real estate, important documents, and information (Source).

Thus, it seems that both chatbots were on the right tack when providing a summary of tokenization on its real world impacts. However, ChatGPT’s in-depth response and specific examples, which aligned with the industry professional consulted, set it apart from Gemini; thus, I seem to have came to the same conclusion as many other AI leaders that Open AI is currently in the lead for controlling the vast majority of influence within the generative AI industry.

Until viewing your blog, I was unfamiliar with Google’s Gemini, so I want to thank you for introducing me to this new technology. I appreciated your demonstration of AI’s power using a certain test for both ChatGPT and Gemini. The analysis of their respective products that followed was informative as it elucidated the reviews of both AIs. In particular, the part where you mentioned that it was not necessarily bad that Gemini gave shallow answers since it simply executed the exact task with which it was assigned. Your comparison of these responses to reputable information was excellent and made the discussion flawless. I was easily able to understand that Open AI’s ChatGPT gave answers that were more detailed and more helpful as compared to Google’s Gemini. Nevertheless, I believe that we should appreciate the progress that has been made with artificial intelligence. Whether it is Open AI, Google, or any other technology company, developments in artificial intelligence are something to be celebrated. We are amidst one of the greatest technological revolutions in human history with the advent of AI. We are the first generation to even get close to imitating the power of our minds, and as progress is made with this technology, artificial intelligence will gain power at a rapid pace. Even now, AI is often used as a substitute for a human when asking a question. ChatGPT has become a common tool for people who need quick and detailed answers to queries, making it invaluable. However, there is a well-known fear of the potential power of artificial intelligence—one that results from the possibility of AI being as intelligent as human beings. While this may become a valid fear one day, it is necessary to understand that there is a limit to artificial intelligence’s power at the moment. In other words, AI is powerful enough to assist us in everyday necessities, but it has yet to reach the level of human intelligence.

  2. This blog was honestly one of the most unique ones I have read yet! I am not an avid user of any artificial intelligence programs, however, so I do not have much knowledge on how they work and what specifically they can be useful for. But, based on what you have written, it seems that using Open AI's ChatGPT program could provide the most ideal response to a prompt that the user suggests. With the way that ChatGPT thinks outside of the box and provides more insightful information, I can see why many people (especially students) are prone to using this program for their work.
    One of the ways that made this blog genuinely enjoyable for me was your choice to report on your experiment and incorporate it into your traditional writing. It was nice to get an insight into your process of determining which artificial intelligence program reigns superior, and by producing a short summary of your findings instead of providing the actual data itself helps make the blog feel more personalized as well. Your choice to also include an additional source into your blog to prove the accuracy of ChatGPT's response to the prompt also added more depth to this writing. While I personally am concerned at how quickly artificial intelligence is advancing and am curious as to what it would become in the future, I enjoyed looking at this comparison between these two programs. It seems that some artificial intelligence programs have a long way to go still...

    I was fascinated by your revelatory approach to uncovering which AI module is the strongest in the modern era. I enjoyed how you turned your blog into a mini-research paper by conducting tests relating to the task completion abilities of Chat GPT 4 and the Google Gemini AI module by asking it to define and give real world examples of tokenization. Although your blog does a splendid job in showcasing the difference in the two top AI modules, I think it could be improved by relating the subject of Artificial Intelligence with power more, despite your initial connection doing accomplishing this task to an extent. This would allow your blog to have more relevance by connecting your research to the power. Personally I think AI is one of, if not the most, powerful tools in modern society, and I believe your selection of this subject for your blog was one of the best so far. Finally, I liked how you compared the output of the modules to an expert's definition of tokenization to make your research more credible and defensible. Overall, I loved reading your unique blog about how the strength of AI modules determine the power they posses and the detailed research you provided to back up your claim.
